Everyone has a role to play in keeping Singapore safe from terrorism. There is no role too small to make a difference. About the programme

SGSecure Advocates

The SGSecure Advocates Programme (SAP) empowers members of the community to play an active role in preparing our community against terrorism.

What it means to be an SGSecure Advocate

As an SGSecure Advocate, you will become part of a growing community of individuals committed to making a positive difference to keep Singapore safe and secure from a terrorist attack – in everyday life, when terror strikes, and in the aftermath of an attack as the community comes together to bounce back from the crisis.

You will help keep Singapore safe by sharing SGSecure advisories at outreach events, and with your family, friends, and others in your life.

As an SGSecure Advocate, you will gain access to knowledge and build confidence to inspire people around you to play their role for the SGSecure movement. Every conversation you start and every action you take can help build a stronger, more prepared community.

  • In everyday life

    • Encourage others to stay alert and report suspicious sightings and signs of radicalisation to the authorities

    • Keep up to date with information from official sources and share accurate information with others

    • Participate in SGSecure activities on campus and in the community, and invite others to join

  • When terror strikes

    • Help to keep the people around you calm during an emergency

    • Debunk rumours by sharing only verified information from official sources

    • Show care for others and help the community stay united and return to normal

Since 2023, we have partnered with several Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to bring SGSecure to their students through campus events centred on safety and security. We have also begun engaging community organisations and workplaces, to enable more members of our community to be a voice of SGSecure.

Bring SGSecure to your school or organisation

As the SAP grows across more schools, community organisations, and workplaces, we would like you to be part of the journey. Advocates will be onboarded to learn about the threat of terrorism, the SGSecure movement, the role of an advocate, and how to engage the people around them, before taking part.

For schools or Uniformed Groups

Teachers may wish to involve their students as Advocates in the following ways:

Champion SGSecure at your event

During your school’s existing activities or events, such as orientation programmes, CCA carnivals or camps, SGSecure Advocates can take on a range of initiatives to raise awareness and build mindshare among their schoolmates, such as manning the SGSecure booth, sharing SGSecure content and media, delivering presentations, or encouraging peers to follow SGSecure's official social media channels.

Bring SGSecure to your event

Join an SGSecure Outreach Event

Advocates can join SGSecure outreach events (e.g. SGSecure Roadshows) and help to engage members of the public directly.

Join an outreach event

For community organisations and workplaces

We are extending SAP to community organisations and workplaces, so that their members and employees can also take part as Advocates, for example by running an SGSecure booth at a community or workplace event, or delivering presentations to their peers.

Recognising our SGSecure Advocates

We value the time, passion and commitment of every SGSecure Advocate.

We invite participating schools and organisations to work with the SGSecure Programme Office to explore meaningful ways to recognise and appreciate their Advocates, including but not limited to SGSecure appreciation packs, and opportunities to support and be recognised at SGSecure events.

Secondary school students who are Uniformed Group members may also count their service as an SGSecure Advocate towards fulfilling the requirements for the Total Defence Gold Badge.
